Annet Lekuru

2021 Fellow from Uganda

Annet Lekuru has more than five years of experience in the field of social work. Currently, Annet is the executive director at Feminature Uganda, an organization focusing on building strong democratic and nonviolent communities through initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of women and youth to counter violent extremism. Together with her team at Feminature Uganda, Annet is designing a technological solution that seeks to provide sustainable and ecofriendly solutions to the hunger pandemic. Annet is also in her final semester of earning a bachelor's degree in Local Governance and Human Rights. She is committed to facilitating the innovation of cost-efficient solutions to socioeconomic challenges in her community. On completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Annet plans to return to Uganda and continue working to prevent violent extremism among women and youth through socioeconomic and political empowerment.
