Brenda Allen Kawala

2019 Fellow from Uganda

Brenda Allen Kawala has more than four years of experience in medical practice. Currently, Brenda is a master’s degree student in the Global Health program at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. She also serves as a co-chair for the equity task group of the COVID-END group of international researchers, where she focuses on equity in the implementation of COVID-19 interventions. In addition, Brenda is vice chair of the Association of Uganda Women Medical Doctors, an organization that advocates for the health of women, children, and adolescents. She previously was a medical doctor at Kakira Sugar Works Hospital and also served as secretary general of the Uganda Medical Association. Brenda holds a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery. She is committed to policy advocacy, equity, and justice, and credits the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders with opening up networking and professional opportunities.
