Brian is the director of academic civic engagement at Appalachian State University. He works with faculty and students to integrate civic involvement into the curriculum and in one's personal life. He is particularly interested in international connections to civic engagement and has led student groups to serve in countries such as Myanmar, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cuba, Ukraine, and Rwanda. He earned his PhD from Barry University in Miami where he focused on student motivations for engaging in international service-learning.
