Duarte Carvalho

2021 Fellow from Angola

Duarte Carvalho is passionate about service and wants to improve and build strong relationships and networks in diverse cultural environments. He has been an active member of AANGEU, an organization of Angolan alumni of U.S. universities, since 2016, and he has focused on educational projects for Angolan youth. Through his work, Duarte pursues educational and agricultural solutions that can be implemented in Angola and across Africa to help address global challenges faced by the agriculture sector, such as food security and climate change. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Duarte intends to provide smallholder farmers in Angola with low-cost innovative and sustainable solutions to support their farming activities and to make them more sustainable and profitable.
