Waji Kiga Elis is an award-winning multimedia journalist and fact-checker who currently serves as an Adamawa correspondent for Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV). Aside from his daily job of producing factual and impactful journalistic stories on a number of topics in Cameroon and beyond, Waji has dedicated his time to training dozens of young aspiring journalists in Ngaoundere, Adamawa Region of Cameroon. As a fact-checker, he is currently launching and adapting training for young trainees on basic techniques for combating the threats of fake news and misinformation. He believes that the media has the capacity to influence individuals' psyches, hold power accountable, and shape society through informed choices. As a result, he recognizes that training the next generation of leaders in the battle against fake news is critical for a safer and more informed community, and he plans to pursue this mission after the Mandela Washington Fellowship. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of Buea and has participated in several communication training sessions.
