Elizabeth Musoki

2017 Fellow from Uganda

Elizabeth Musoki has 10 years’ experience in the local government and nongovernmental organization sectors. Currently, Elizabeth is community development and gender officer at the Kasese District Government, where she manages five major programs: Social Assistance, Elderly Care, Disability Services, Child Protection, and Community Development. She also represents her town council at the district and national levels; prepares and coordinates the council’s operational plans, budget, and performance appraisals; and supervises and mentors 21 staff members. Elizabeth is founder and chief executive officer of the Women Up Initiative–Uganda, a nonprofit focused on building the Feminist Movement. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in International Development at the University of York. She holds a postgraduate diploma in Public Administration and Management and a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies. Elizabeth is passionate about freedom of expression, fairness and equality, and women’s development. Having witnessed abuse of women and children while growing up, she is dedicated to social change and social justice. A 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow, Elizabeth credits the Fellowship with exposing her to leaders, experts, and scholars from around the world and advancing her knowledge and skills with international approaches to development.
