Fardosa Ahamed

2018 Fellow from Uganda

Fardosa Ahamed holds elected office as a youth council leader and deputy speaker for the Kaabong District local government in Uganda. She is also a treasurer for the Uganda District Councilors Speakers Association. Fardosa has two years' experience in youth engagement and community development. She runs Keep My Dream Alive, an organization aiming to support underprivileged children in accessing secondary school. The organization supports students through the Strengthening Education in Karamoja project focused on social entrepreneurship. The organization also addresses the abuse faced by female students at school. She holds a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from Kampala International University. She is passionate about education and believes that education can lift communities out of poverty. Upon the completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she will apply her acquired skills and knowledge to realize her dream of a community where girls and boys have guaranteed access to education.
