Ifeoma Umeh has over eight years of experience in community pharmacy practice, with a special interest in maternal and child health. Currently, Ifeoma is the Founder and Program Director of Sure Girl Initiative (SGI), a school-based cervical cancer awareness campaign targeted at girls aged 9 and above in both private and public schools in Nigeria. The program's aim is to increase the number of parents vaccinating their girls in this age bracket against the oncogenic Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) strains before they become sexually active.Ifeoma holds a master's degree in Clinical Pharmacy from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria, where she focused on feasibility of co-payment as a possible option for enhancing the uptake of the HPV vaccine in Nigeria.Ifeoma is driven by her passion for maternal health and hopes that, one day, women will gain access to free medical care in Nigeria starting with HPV vaccines. Ifeoma plans to continue her work in cervical cancer and HPV vaccination awareness campaigns and, when possible, establish low cost HPV screening and vaccination centers in all the states in Nigeria.
