James Amugsi is an award-winning senior nurse at the Sandema Hospital in Ghana, as well as a community volunteer and an entrepreneur. His work involves staff supervision, health education, and nurse prescriber duties. He is also founder and chief executive of Jamugsi Medical Services, which provides ultrasound services to his community and ultrasound skills training to health professionals. He is executive director of Betterworld Ghana, a nongovernmental organization working on health, advocacy, and economic empowerment. A 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow, James credits the Fellowship with the success of his current activities in his community.
