John Chiti is an established musician and an albino rights activist. John is the first person with albinism to emerge into the limelight in Zambia. In 2008, he was named Most Promising Artist of the Year at the Ngoma Music Awards. John uses his music to send empowering messages, especially to people with albinism. He is also founder and executive director of the Albino Foundation of Zambia, where he advocates for the welfare and human rights of people with albinism. In 2015, he won a Humanitarian Award for his contribution to disability rights. John holds certificates in Artists as Role Models, HIV/AIDS Peer Education, Albinism Studies, and Entrepreneurship Development. A 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow, he is passionate about encouraging musical talent and being a role model for young people with albinism.
