Nkechinyere Melva Uguru

Nkechinyere Melva Uguru is a legal practitioner, mentor, and entrepreneur with experience in the non-profit sector and in legal practice. She has excellent logistics skills, has expertise in enterprise development processes, and knows how to use resources to achieve an organization's objectives. Passionate about youth empowerment, Melva founded Kachem Young Initiative, where she promotes entrepreneurial education and educational inclusion and access and tries to strengthen literacy and minority rights. Melva is also Ebonyi state lead for Connected Development's Follow the Money initiative, whose mandate is to ensure the rule of law and government transparency and accountability. Melva holds an LL.B. from the University of Abuja and attended the Nigerian Law School. She interned at the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja and was a research assistant with the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary and Akaraiwe & Associates. Currently, she works with Ogodo, Ogodo & Co. and volunteers on the Board of Trustees of the Izhi Tehu Foundation, an organization that advocates peace among Izhii communities in Ebonyi. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Melva plans to expand her literacy efforts to more youth, women, and children to ensure inclusion and access in the education sector.
