Pierre Balamou

2014 Fellow from Guinea

Dr. Pierre Balamou is a public health professional with over 11 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic planning, program development, and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of priority public health programs – especially reproductive health; maternal, newborn, and child health; HIV/AIDS prevention and control; malaria prevention and control; community health; and health systems strengthening. Dr. Balamou currently works with USAID/Guinea as the public health specialist to ensure continued momentum of the Mission’s portfolio in maternal, newborn and child health, reproductive health, and health systems strengthening activities in Guinea. He has prior extensive working experience with various international organizations to design and implement priority health programs and build local capacities. Dr. Balamou holds a Master of Sciences in health programs management, a Bachelor of Medical Doctor, and a university degree in Epidemiology. He is an alumnus of the West African Health Organization’s Young Professional Internship Program (WHO/YPIP 2013), the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (2014), and former member of the Mandela Washington Fellowship West Africa Regional Advisory Board (2015).
