Samba Jaiteh

2021 Fellow from The Gambia

Samba Jaiteh has spent all his life as a disability rights advocate. With seven years of experience as a special needs teacher, he teaches the blind and the visually impaired in The Gambia to use information technology (including computers and smartphones) independently. He also volunteers as a radio presenter on disability rights advocacy, and is passionate about the rights of persons with disabilities. He holds a higher teachers' certificate from The Gambia College's School of Education. On completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, he hopes to continue his advocacy and to encourage society and the government to engage persons with disabilities in all sectors of national development.
