Shariphine Agoalikum

2022 Fellow from Ghana

Shariphine Agoalikum has more than nine years of experience in physiotherapy and disability rehabilitation. Currently, Shariphine is a tutor at St. John of God College of Health in Ghana, where she imparts knowledge and skills to physiotherapy, trauma, and orthopedic technicians to help ensure the gap in the physical rehabilitation workforce in Ghana is filled. Shariphine also volunteers at the Oasis Autism Center and Guba Inspires Foundation. She is a 2021 Healthy Lungs for Life grant awardee and currently the on-grounds lead for the University of Limerick's Learning for Lives, Ghana physiotherapy project. Shariphine holds a Master of Philosophy in Disability Rehabilitation and Education from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Ghana. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Shariphine plans to set up a non-governmental, non-profit foundation for community-based rehabilitation to ensure that rehabilitation services are available to poor and marginalized populations in Ghana. She also plans to intensify and broaden her health promotion and education programs to help prevent diseases and disabilities.
