Sister Kashala is currently pursuing a master's degree in Property Studies at the University of Cape Town and is a quantity surveyor with over two years of experience working for Nexus Building Contractors. In this role, Sister pushes boundaries with regards to project management, cost control, and contracts administration of significant capital projects. Sister is an industry trailblazer committed to disrupting construction industry norms, defying conventional gender roles within the space, and redefining the role of women in construction. In her spare time, Sister shares her experience and knowledge through mentoring youth from Namibia using a platform she founded in 2017 called Tekula. In addition to her passion for construction and charity, Sister spearheads Lazilia Travels, a tour company that curates budget group tours. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Sister plans to harness lessons and experiences gained to expand her vision throughout Africa and beyond.
