Tania Gahama Ineza has over 10 years of experience in community development and healthcare. Passionate about health education, Tania is currently the founder and program coordinator of Uzima, a non-profit organization of medical professionals for health promotion. Also passionate about youth and women's empowerment, Tania has been a scout for the last 17 years and trains young scouts. She volunteers with the Burundi Young Women Christian Association, where she has organized two workshops for reflection on women's rights, local issues, and solutions for Women's History Month. Tania is also involved in the Burundi Christian Medical and Dental Association, and has helped organize annual conferences for Christian health professionals. She graduated as a medical doctor in 2018 from the Franck Ogden School of Medicine at Hope Africa University. Tania is committed to promoting health education, particulary around women's and youth issues such as breast and uterine cancer and sexual and reproductive heath and rights. She is also committed to promoting equity in healthcare, driven by her experience working with breast cancer patients and being a mother of a child with special needs. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Tania plans to implement solutions that address women's and youth empowerment and equity in healthcare through health education and advocacy.
