Adaeze Menekpugi

2023 Fellow from Nigeria

Adaeze Menekpugi has more than five years of experience in the maternal health field, providing professional postpartum care services and education. Adaeze is cofounder at Omugwo.com.ng, an organization based in Nigeria that provides well-trained, well-equipped, and properly vetted professional caregivers who help take care of mothers and their infants after childbirth. She also serves as a teen counselor and mentor at Redemption Ministries Eagle Assembly. Adaeze holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Management and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Nigeria. She is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and child by providing holistic, professional postpartum care services because she knows from experience how difficult it is to navigate the period right after birth without help. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Adaeze plans to start a caregiving and nanny training institute. In the next five years, the institute would train 100,000 women to become professional caregivers, not just in postpartum care but in other areas such as care for the elderly and for all children, including those with special needs.
