Beverlyn Ganes

2023 Fellow from Namibia

Beverlyn Ganes has more than three years of experience in project coordination and town planning in Namibia. As enumerator for census in the informal settlement at the Namibian Statistics Agency, she developed a passion for working in the informal settlements through various research projects. Beverlyn also coordinated projects in informal settlements through a nongovernmental organization that focuses on sustainable urban development in informal settlements and disadvantaged communities. She has also participated in the Women Entrepreneurship Empowerment Programme, which enabled her to reach out and donate to women in informal settlements. Beverlyn holds a bachelor's degree in Town Planning and Regional Planning and is pursuing an honors degree in Business Management from Namibia University of Science and Technology. She is passionate about progress, development, and empowerment. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Beverlyn plans to register a nongovernmental organization that will scout and promote individuals with talents in underprivilege societies, take part in national women empowerment activities in her country, and to work hand-in-hand with local authorities to assist with spatial planning in informal settlements.
