Congratulations to our 2025 Leadership Impact Award Winner Freedom Mukanga, a 2022 Fellowship Alumnus from Zimbabwe.  The Fellowship honors Freedom for his outstanding ability to leverage program connections with American professionals in hydrometeorology, entrepreneurship, and agriculture to strengthen partnerships in these critical industries across Sub-Saharan Africa. 

Freedom is the CEO and founder of FreedPer Scientific, a leading provider of advanced weather observations and meteorological data across Africa.  Through strategic collaborations with U.S. companies Campbell Scientific, Synoptic Data, and University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, Freedom has enhanced weather data collection techniques and improved disaster preparedness in Zimbabwe.  Beyond science and technology, Freedom has partnered with U.S. educational institutions to deliver seminars for emerging Zimbabwean entrepreneurs and poultry farmers.  These initiatives create new opportunities for American investors, bolster food security, and reduce reliance on foreign aid.

Since completing the Fellowship, Freedom has partnered closely with the U.S. Department of State to expand the reach of U.S. exchange programs in Zimbabwe.  He amplifies recruitment efforts, shares his exchange experiences, and supports program implementation.  As chair of the U.S. Exchange Alumni Association of Zimbabwe, he represents an active network of 2,500 alumni. 

Freedom is a proven bridge-builder between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa.  He exemplifies the benefits in leveraging American expertise and business partnerships to promote mutual peace and prosperity.  He credits the Fellowship for fostering these American partnerships and the Fellowship Network as instrumental in scaling his entrepreneurial ventures.
