Abigail Aruna is the head of operations for Clean Team Ghana Limited (CTGL), an enterprise that provides toilets to low-income urban households in Kumasi. Abigail is the most senior woman in the organization, leading a team of more than 30 men. She was the second employee to join CTGL and has been integral to its growth from 100 users to more than 16,000 today. Abigail holds a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Rural Development from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She mentors students from tertiary institutions who intern with CTGL. On completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Abigail hopes to leverage her network and skills to replicate and scale efficient sanitation systems in Ghana. Abigail also aims to influence local and international sanitation policy to make sanitation more equitable and to provide high-quality jobs to combat spiraling youth unemployment across Ghana and Africa.
