Alain Irankunda

2019 Fellow from Burundi

Alain Irankunda has more than four years of experience teaching English and sign language. Currently, Alain is founder and chief executive officer of Continental Plus, a company based in Burundi that focuses on teaching languages, coaching businesses, and conducting digital marketing. Alain is also a volunteer English teacher at the Cibitoke English Club. Alain holds a degree in Medical Laboratory, as well as certificates in Digital Marketing from Google and English as a Foreign Language from TESOL. He is committed to empowering youth with language skills to maximize their job opportunities. Alain is a 2019 recipient of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. He credits the Fellowship with enhancing his business skills and professional network and with helping him open another branch of his company, which was funded through seed capital awarded by Northwestern University.
