Anna Qabale Duba

2016 Fellow from Kenya

Anna Duba is the founder of Qabale Duba Foundation, and has over four years' experience in various community-related activities. The foundation's slogan is 'bridging the gaps' by empowering women, championing against harmful cultural practices (like female genital mutilation and early marriage), implementing peace-building activities, and advocating for girl-child education. Anna graduated from the Kenya Methodist University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and was the first female from her village to get a degree. Using her nursing knowledge she wants to use her foundation to reach women in Kenya's remote villages, teaching traditional birth attendants on safe delivery techniques. She also intends to donate sanitary towels to women and girls. Anna is the former Miss Kenya Peace and Investment, a title she has used to reach out to fighting communities and champion for peace. After completing the Fellowship, she plans to continue 'bridging the gaps' using different community-development programs.
