2018 Fellow from Senegal

Awa Thiam has over three years of experience in digital transformation.   Currently Awa is a product owner for agile web development at Orange Sonatel in Senegal, and is leading her start-up Lifantou.  Focusing on how new technology can improve food distribution, Lifantou is a marketplace for local farmers based on GIS technology.  Through the Lifantou community, each transaction helps to feed children in public schools.  Awa holds an engineering degree in Telecommunication with a specialization in International Marketing and Strategy from the Institut Mines-Télécom in France. She is committed to using new technology to improve social needs.  Awa credits the Professional Development Experience she completed while a Mandela Washington Fellow with expanding her knowledge and skillset in business development and GIS technology.
