Chido Cleopatra Mpemba

Chido Mpemba is a diplomat in the African Union Chairperson’s Cabinet. She advises on youth affairs as the African Union (AU) Special Envoy on Youth, serving as the voice for the over 870 million youth across Africa. Chido was recently recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential African Women and as Top 100, Under 40 Most Influential People of African Descent by CNN New York. As a Pan-African youth advocate, she has worked with various institutions to coordinate activities focused on social equity and education, climate change, and public health policy. She also promoted the Continental Framework on Youth, Peace & Security in Africa and successfully advocated for African Countries to ratify the AU Youth Charter. She is an alumna of the Emerging Security Sector Leaders Seminar, run by the Africa Center of Strategic Studies, with support from the National Defense University and the U.S. Department of Defense. She is a Global Leadership Council Member of the Generation Unlimited. She is also a Leadership Council Member for AFRICA Reach, chaired by the First Lady of Namibia and Current President of Organisation of Africa First Ladies. Chido holds an MBA Degree and has private sector experience as an International Banker.
