Christine Adero

2022 Fellow from Uganda

For nearly eight years, Christine Adero has worked in the non-profit sector in the fields of project and program management, advocacy, training organization and delivery, digital security training, and data collection and analysis. Throughout her career, she has led the development and implementation of innovative programs and activities for women and children and created platforms for them to freely express themselves, tackle issues that affect them, gain skills, connect to opportunities, and gain knowledge on a variety of subjects. Currently, Christine is founder and member of Passage, a social enterprise that provides a low-tech solution that integrates with ride-hailing apps to provide safe, affordable, and accountable mobility for Ugandan schoolchildren without the need for a smartphone. As an advocate for children's rights, she believes every child has a right to safety, especially when trying to access education. Christine holds a bachelor's degree in Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University in Kampala. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Christine plans to use the strategies and knowledge acquired from the Fellowship to continue building her social enterprise to ensure it is successful, impactful, and sustainable.
