Ester Hango

2021 Fellow from Namibia

Ester Magano Hango has over 13 years of experience in environmental education and youth development. Her work focuses on sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and renewable energy. In addition to being the founder and part-time project coordinator of the Okatyali Biodiversity Campsite and Multiservices Center, Ester is an environmental educator for the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Services. Ester holds a Bachelor of Technology in agriculture management and is currently studying part-time for a post-graduate diploma in sustainability learning at Rhodes University, South Africa. Ester is motivated to assist rural farmers, women, youth, and learners adapt to climate change, enhance their agricultural livelihoods, and deal with environmental challenges. She credits the Mandela Washington Fellowship for creating opportunities for learning new skills in leadership and providing opportunities for collaboration and networking that contributed positively to the growth of her career and community work.
