Frieda Abilba

2022 Fellow from Ghana

Frieda Ayinema Abilba is a pharmacist with more than 10 years of experience in hospital pharmacy practice. Currently, Frieda heads both the pediatric and oncology department pharmacies at the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region of Ghana. She coordinates the provision of quality pharmaceutical care and the preparation and reconstitution of chemotherapeutic agents at the hospital. In addition, she helps coordinate activities for the Girls Flow Free Foundation, which works to break barriers regarding reproductive and menstrual-related issues among girls and women in the region's deprived communities. Frieda holds a Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is currently pursuing a Membership Program in Oncology Pharmacy with the Ghana College of Pharmacists. She is committed to fighting cancer through advocacy for early detection of cancer in women and children within her region. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Frieda plans to expand her work in the provision of pharmaceutical care by liaising with organizations in cancer management and advocacies aimed at improving the overall outcome of cancer care and burden in the Northern Region of Ghana.
