Hewan Goitom Berhane is an architect focused on promoting the conservation of urban and architectural heritage sites. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Arba Minch University Institute of Technology and working on completing her graduate thesis on the indigenous architectural heritage of Adwa in Ethiopia. Hewan is part of the executive committee of the Heritage Watch Association, a non-profit association dedicated to the protection and promotion of Ethiopian heritage sites. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Hewan aspires to continue her work at Heritage Watch Association and continue to help protect and conserve urban and architectural heritage sites across her country.
