Janet Kallon

2023 Fellow from Sierra Leone

Janet Kallon has more than 10 years of experience in accountancy, advocacy, and volunteer work. Currently, Janet is a monitoring officer at the Irish League of Credit Union Foundation Limited, where she provides quality internal audit functions and monitors the performance of credit unions in Sierra Leone. Janet is also a committed advocator for girls, women, and youth development. Her passion for activism started at Tumac radio as a girl rights activist. In 2014, Janet joined the Patriotic Advocacy Network Sierra Leone, a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization that is geared toward protecting patriotism in the minds of young and active Sierra Leoneans. Janet is also chair of the board of directors for the Educate a Child to Save a Nation campaign, and she is project lead for Public Speaking for Girls. Janet holds a master's degree in Auditing from Nanjing Audit University (China). After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Janet plans to design and implement more projects and campaigns to assist youth and to launch the For Girls By Girls Foundation, an organization run by women and girls that will focus on addressing issues affecting women and girls.
