Jessy Chisi

2015 Fellow from Zambia

Jessie Chisi is a film director, screenwriter and unique and self-motivated young woman in the field of filmmaking. Beginning with a keen interest and growing passion, she had the opportunity to travel to South Africa and Finland to improve her skills and has a diploma in film making, an applied certificate in entrepreneurship from MIT. Jessie turned her art into entrepreneurship to found the Young Cinema in Zambia project, as well as the Zambia Short Film Fest through which she trains 35 young film makers and entrepreneurs each year. She believes film has the power to bring change and create sustainable industry and is an ambassador for Building Futures Zambia, advocating for children's education. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she wants to strength her projects and grow her Young Cinema in Zambia project into a film school.
