Karine Rassool, an economist by profession, has been working at the Seychelles Fishing Authority for the past five years. She has been actively involved in various initiatives in her organisation to promote the sustainable exploitation of her country's fisheries resources. Her passion for sustainability is also reflected in her community work, where she sits as a steering member of a youth-led regional NGO, SIDS Youth AIMS Hub (SYAH) ' Seychelles, which looks to educate, empower and promote youth action for sustainable development. A firm believer in educating the youth for a better tomorrow, she also lectures part time at the University of Seychelles. Upon completion of the Nelson Mandela Fellowship, Karine looks forward to being better equipped with the necessary skills to continue her work as a 'blue activist' and leading the change she wants to see.
