Her previous work has focused on the long-term dynamics of ephemeral water bodies in the Nigerien Sahel and the implications of political, economic, and cultural practices for managing these resources. Kelsey recently graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with an MS in Earth System Science. In 2019, she traveled to Togo as part of the Mandela Washington Fellowship Reciprocal Exchange to conduct a four-day workshop on using satellite remote sensing applications for agriculture, flood monitoring, and land cover land use change. She learned about the unique environmental challenges that face Togo and looks forward to continuing to work with her Togolese colleagues to use remote sensing to address these issues.
