Kiara Ramklass

2022 Fellow from South Africa

Kiara Ramklass has more than 10 years of experience in entrepreneurship and music education. Currently, Kiara is founding director at Marimba Jam, a social enterprise that bridges the gaps of education inequality in South Africa through increased access to African music education programs. She serves on the committee of the Wynberg Girls' Alumnae and has facilitated numerous youth development programs. Kiara holds a bachelor's degree in Film and Media, specializing in Screen Production. She wants to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the benefits of African music education. She believes that attaining this goal will yield a new cohort of independent, creative, and responsible young people who are better equipped to contribute to society and pave the way for a more equal society. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Kiara plans to establish partnerships with the private sector, local government, and external funding bodies to replicate Marimba Jam's current hub model in all of South Africa's major cities.
