Leon Damba

2018 Fellow from Zimbabwe

Leon Damba has over eight years of experience working in the food and nutrition industry, in the NGO sector focused on vulnerable children, with Africa's biggest franchising company, and as a freelance business development executive. Currently, Leon is the founder and managing partner of The Sous Chef (Pvt) Limited, where they focus on environmentally friendly, healthy, and affordable catering solutions and food processing, contributing to food security in Zimbabwe. He also works with orphaned children in Zimbabwe by providing support on sustainable food security projects, such as a community gardening project using irrigation at Good-Hope Mothers in Hwange. Leon holds a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences with majors in Human Nutrition and Diet Therapy. He is motivated to enhance his entrepreneurial skills in networking, marketing, business development, and business impact. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Leon plans to improve the livelihoods of people in his country by eradicating hunger and malnutrition through community development and sustainable growth. He aspires to be a well-rounded businessman, with global networks, who has a positive local and regional impact in Zimbabwe.
