2018 Fellow from South Sudan

Lupai Samuel has over seven years' experience in radio broadcasting, focusing on peace building and youth empowerment. Currently, Lupai is the founder and director of the I am Peace Initiative for Harmony, Coexistence, and Development, where he plans and implements peacebuilding activities for South Sudanese refugees and host communities in northern Uganda through media advocacy and youth empowerment. Lupai is motivated by his passion to eradicate divisions based on gender and tribal and political affiliations. He believes that one day South Sudanese and Africans will learn to coexist peacefully. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Lupai hopes to expand his work to South Sudan, where he will focus on peacebuilding and youth empowerment through media advocacy and skills and talent training.
