Mable Kipenda

2019 Fellow from Zambia

Mable Kipenda is a medical doctor with more than five years of experience in women's and adolescents' health. Currently, Mable works at Ndola Teaching Hospital. She is also program adviser at Copper Rose Zambia, a nonprofit focused on advocacy and training in women's and adolescents' health. Mable holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Medicine and Surgery. She is currently pursuing a specialty training program in Internal Medicine. Mable is motivated to empower women and adolescents through health because she believes that if a woman is empowered, the whole world benefits. She credits the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, which she received in 2019, with her recent appointment as colead of the sub-Saharan African cluster for Women's Economic Imperative, an organization that looks at women's health as an economic value.
