Maureen Jessica Gaba

2017 Fellow from Benin

Maureen Jessica Gaba is a sociologist of sexual health and reproduction who focuses on youth and sexual education in Benin. She is very passionate about helping young girls, as well as all teenagers in general, to become more educated and literate on sexual issues. With a lot of sensitization sessions and activities in many high schools over the course of the last three years, she aims to reduce the number of girls dropping out of school, early pregnancies, and abortions. During a long period of sensitization in a rural area in Benin, Maureen was able to help more than 100 young girls dealing with sexually transmitted diseases. Currently working as an Educational Coach, she is involved in a project to create a social center to assist young girls with personal problems.
