Nasera Victoria Elikana holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from the Uganda Christian University. She has a passion for sports and plays and promotes women's soccer. She holds co-curricular diplomas from the Eastern Africa Universities' Sports Federation. She worked as a banker with the Cooperative Bank of South Sudan and as a project administrator for the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET). While working with AFENET, Nasera was responsible for annual financial budgets, planning activities, and financial management, enabling her to gain a wide breadth of knowledge and skills which she used to start an organization. Nasera is the founder of the Nasvick Initiative, whose primary objective is to empower women through soccer and agriculture in South Sudan. The initiative aims to promote women in soccer and foster peace and reconciliation. She intends to organize more women's soccer tournaments at the state level. She believes that this women's empowerment initiative can assist in the fight against child marriages, sexual and gender-based trauma, and girls' marginalization. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she intends to engage unemployed rural women and retired soccer players through the Nasvick Initiative. She will provide computer and passion fruit farming training. Through providing seedlings, farm equipment, and agricultural technical support, as well as arranging for reliable markets in urban centers, this passion fruit farming project will allow women to gain income and improve their economic situation.
