Nkosana Masuku

2021 Fellow from Zimbabwe

Nkosana Masuku is the creative mind behind Sciency, a startup focused on revitalizing STEM education with affordable STEM kits.  His journey started as a teacher in rural schools, where he saw firsthand the significant gaps in education between rural and urban areas, especially for young girls, who often get left behind in science and tech studies.

Driven by a desire to make STEM learning available to everyone, Nkosana took his work from classrooms to the business world.  Sciency is about more than teaching; it's about creating a space for students to get their hands on the latest tech and tools, making learning fun and applicable to their lives.  This shift from traditional teaching to hands-on learning has set Sciency apart as a beacon of innovation and inclusion.

In 2023, Nkosana's work and impact were recognised with the Global Citizen Award Cisco Youth Leadership Award.  This honor highlighted his efforts to break down the barriers for hands-on STEM, providing resources, special programs, and role models that inspire confidence and ambition in young learners.  With an aim of expanding the organization’s reach, Sciency has now crossed borders into neighboring countries Botswana and South Africa.
