Palesa Mokomele

2019 Fellow from South Africa

Palesa Mokomele has over seven years of experience in the fishing industry; most of which spent as a communicator in the public service. Currently, Palesa co-runs Ezabalobi Media, a social impact media company that produces a monthly newspaper, Thetha Mlobi, for the small-scale fishing industry and the fishing industry at large. Thetha Mlobi is a niche publication that provides a platform for the fishing industry to communicate, share information, and drive resources to under-resourced fishing towns. Palesa plays an advisory role in the industry and has been invited to give talks internationally. Palesa also volunteers in a women's empowerment non-governmental organization and holds a master´s degree in Political Communication from the University of Leeds.
