Pedro Lopes has over seven years of experience in marketing and communication in the corporate, public, and civil society sectors. Currently, Pedro is a Communications Associate for the United Nations office in Cabo Verde, where he supports the formulation and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies to better the standing and increase awareness of the UN. He also worked for Grupo Catarino in Portugal, City Hall of Trieste in Italy, Wansati Communications in Cabo Verde, and was part of the team that organized the first Africa Innovation Summit. He recently brought the first TEDx to Cabo Verde and is the President of Geracao B-Bright, a youth empowerment project. Pedro holds a B.Sc. in International Relations from the University of Coimbra, a M.A. in Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford, and a post-graduate course on Strategic Communications from the University of Coimbra. Pedro is driven to have a positive impact on local communities by bringing transformation through communication and by motivating people to unleash their own potential. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship Pedro plans to continue to have impact in Cabo Verde and connect more international and national brands to the development of local communities with business and social benefits for both of them.
