At 31 years old, Pedro Lopes became Cabo Verde's youngest government member when he served as Secretary of State for Innovation & Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). He conceived the Prime Minister's Youth Council and "Cabo Verde Digital," revolutionizing the country's digital landscape. He is the Secretary of State for Digital Economy and is a council member of the World Economic Forum - Global Future Council. In addition to being an alumnus of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Pedro is an Obama Foundation Fellow where he was nominated for the Personality of the Year award in 2018. He has been recognized globally including nominations for World Politician of the Year Award by One Young World and Most Influential People of Africa Descent Global (MIPAD) 100 under 40 - Politics and Governance. Pedro has a degree in international relations from the University of Coimbra and a master’s degree in conflict resolution from the University of Bradford in the UK.
