Rita Anyango

2019 Fellow from Uganda

Rita Anyango has extensive experience in relationship management in the banking, telecommunications, creative, and non-profit sectors. Currently, Rita is the head of customer information services in GTBank Uganda. She is also the co-founder of Women in Animation Uganda, a non-profit that seeks the inclusion of young women and people with disabilities in the computer animation industry. She is currently producing Uganda’s first 3D computer animation series to inspire children of African descent worldwide and to increase youth employment. Rita has a strong passion for digital arts, women and gender issues, and youth empowerment. She earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Makerere University. She is a 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow and a 2018 See It Be It Alumna of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. In 2017, she received the Judges’ Choice Team Award for Innovation from the Uganda Communications Commission. Rita credits the Fellowship with providing access to resources and networks that have supported the production of her children's animation series.
