Saum Esendi Idd has more than six years of experience in the media and communications industry. Currently, she is the founder and managing director of Dua Ya Dada Enterprises, a media production company focused on telling inspiring stories for a wide range of clients across the continent and for social causes in her community. A huge part of her work involves telling the stories of rural women and girls to ensure their equal representation in the media. She also partners with like-minded organizations and schools to train and mentor youth in using storytelling to express themselves and amplify their voices, and she is building a creative hub where women can learn, collaborate, and lead in telling their own stories. Saum is committed to using her voice as a storyteller to create narratives that will empower the next generation of aspiring leaders and storytellers. On completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Saum plans to use the knowledge, skills, network, and opportunities she gains to advance her advocacy efforts in other communities in Kenya and around the world.
