Sharuna Doyal

2021 Fellow from Mauritius

Sharuna Doyal has more than 10 years of experience in education. She is currently a psychologist with the Mauritius Police Force, where she focuses on psychotherapy and counseling for police officers and their family members and offers psychological training and capacity-building for officers and teams. Sharuna is a part-time lecturer at the University of Technology Mauritius for various courses for healthcare professionals in the mental health master's program and has also taught various psychology-related subjects at the Mauritius Institute of Education and Open University of Mauritius. She has a master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and her sociology and economics background has kept her active in social changemaker groups. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Sharuna plans to bring awareness about mental health and psychological and communication skills, especially in the areas of domestic violence and healthcare, to those in her community.
