Tunu Yongolo is a communications executive with more than 12 years of experience in development programs. Currently, Tunu is media manager at Femina Hip, developing and leading strategies for internal and external communications. She is also founder and executive director of The Joy Foundation Tanzania, an initiative that is committed to reducing infertility rates in Tanzania and consequently reducing the prevalence of gender-based violence, to which infertility is a contributing factor. Tunu holds a bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Dar es Salaam. She is dedicated to being a vocal fertility advocate and speaks openly about living with infertility, so as to increase awareness, promote regular medical examinations, and introduce assisted reproductive technologies as an acceptable solution for untreatable infertility. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Tunu plans to increase the overall impact of The Joy Foundation Tanzania in thought leadership, policy, and advocacy; to improve the foundation's service delivery; to reach a wider audience; to create more awareness materials; and to expand the foundation's projects for greater impact and more positive outcomes.
