Valentin Zanmenou

2021 Fellow from Benin

Valentin Zanmenou has more than five years of experience in English language training and youth empowerment. Valentin is the co-founder and current national coordinator of BeninBee, the national spelling bee organization in Benin, where he works to improve young students' literacy and digital, communications, and leadership skills through spelling bee competitions. He also volunteers at the Benin National Teachers of English Association, where he works to improve teachers' digital skills. He holds a master's degree in English from the University of Abomey-Calavi in Benin, and is committed to helping students develop the skills they need to thrive in their community. On completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Valentin plans to provide more educational opportunities to marginalized students, students with disabilities, and people living in remote areas.
