Finalists and Alternates for the 2021 Mandela Washington Fellowship are invited by the Department of State invites you to join a YALI Town Hall on Inclusion, Justice, and the Global Civil Rights Struggle on August 27, 2020 at 9:00 am EST/13:00 GMT.

COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted the world’s most vulnerable groups who have limited access to healthcare and for whom social distancing can a hunger sentence.  In the midst of this pandemic, there has also been a global reckoning on systemic racism and social justice in recent months.

As you continue to grapple with COVID-19 at home, the Department of State would like to offer a space to discuss current events and the complex issues our societies are facing stemming from the struggles for Black integration in the United States and independence in Africa.

This important conversation will feature panelists from the U.S. Department of State, Howard University, and two Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni, Matthew Fred (2014 Alumnus, Liberia) and Elizabeth Musoki (2017 Alumna, Uganda).
