Fellowship Alumnus Wins West Africa Journalist of the Year 2021
Congratulations to Stephen “Kwetey” Nartey, a 2019 Fellowship Alumnus from Ghana, for being named a joint winner of the 2021 West Africa Journalist of the Year Award at the West Africa Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA). Kwetey was chosen for his two-part investigation into purchasing practices that violated Ghana’s Cocoa Sustainability Programme.
Organized by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), WAMECA honors exemplary work, in-depth investigations, and exceptional storytelling. This year’s WAMECA was held under the theme, “Misinformation, Digital Media Regulation, and Journalism in Africa.”
